Ajay Kumar Singhal
He is an IRSEE officer of 1986 Engineering services examination batch. He is a graduate in Electrical Engineering from G B Pant University and a post graduate in Power Systems from IIT Delhi. He has experience of more than 32 years in field of rolling stock design, inspection, production and maintenance as well as power supply systems. He has worked in four Zonal Railways (NR, NCR, CR and SCR), RDSO Lucknow and at Chittaranjan Locomotive works. He was earlier on deputation to Ministry of Foreign affairs for 4 years and worked as Deputy Railway adviser at Embassy of India, Paris France. Since 2014, he is a Certified Energy Manager by BEE.
He has handled, in various capacities, many prestigious projects viz. design and development of 3-phase EMUs for Mumbai suburban, maintenance of fabricated bogies on BHEL built WAG-5 locomotives during initial phase, manufacturing of WAG-7 and WAP class of locomotives apart from the periodic overhaul of EMUs for Mumbai suburban system and electrical maintenance of LHB coaches. As a National Project Coordinator, a project on energy efficiency of UNDP and IR was also successfully implemented with CRIS, RDSO, IRIEEN and Zonal Railways. He has also worked as ADRM and DRM at Moradabad on Northern Railways and Principal Chief Electrical Engineer on North Central Railways.
He was deputed for training and other technical visits to AD Tranz Switzerland, Siemens Germany as well as for management trainings to INSEAD Singapore, ICLIF Malaysia, ISB Hyderabad, NAIR Vadodara and SDA Bocconi Business School, Italy.
He has authored many articles in Indian Railways magazine. He likes to play table tennis. He is also a visiting faculty at IRITM and for various MDP courses on NR.
